Chapter 5 Exercise 1
It is clear that when Julie Charlip uses phrases like "Mark and Engels wrote:", and describes the time she asked a sociology professor what he thought about classes, she is refering to other peoples views. Then, when she say things like, "I find myself not knowing what class I'm from", and "I seek the answers to these questions in the specificity of my past", she is clearly displaying her own thoughts and ideas.
Chapter 4 Exercise 1
I believe that Jean Anyon both agrees and disagrees with Bowles, Gintis, Basil Bernstein, Pierre Bourdieu, and Michael W Apple. I believe this because she goes on to support both ideas supported by these men and says that in her article she offers she offers tentative empirical support of these ideas. She agrees with these men but wants to further expand their investigation onto elementary and secondary schools.
